And it's done.

I finally came out of my shell and found the courage to record my “first” video – well, the first video for this channel and this new adventure.

It didn’t go as I wanted.

But I’m proud anyway.

I did it.

Now I just need to edit and share it with the world!

How I Felt

  • Scared.

  • Excited.

  • Vulnerable.

  • Proud.

  • Frustrated.

Starting something on my own from scratch is really scary, but I couldn’t be prouder. Speaking in English and being on camera are two things I’m not comfortable with – but I did it anyway. The video is far from perfect or even good, but more importantly: it’s done.

The first step of many has been taken.

First Mistakes and Roadblocks

The camera stopped recording after 30 minutes and I didn’t even notice – I just kept going like everything was fine. At the time it was frustrating, but now I find it kinda funny. I didn’t notice because I didn’t want to look at the camera screen – I wanted to focus on the lens to look more natural. Well… now I know, haha.

In the second “take” after the camera stopped, the battery started to run out…What happened next? I tried to do a “speed run” from where I left off and… I couldn’t finish the video the way I wanted, the camera shut off AGAIN.

Even more frustrating – but that’s part of the process!

That’s how you learn: by failing and continuing.

What I'll Do Differently Next Time

Right after, I started looking for extra camera batteries and a memory card reader (because exporting videos to my laptop via Wi-Fi was simply unsustainable). I bought them and I’m waiting for them to arrive – and I can’t wait to start editing!

When the new batteries arrive, I could re-record the video, but why? I would know I had already tried, already failed, already learned those lessons – and I’d be lying to myself and to anyone watching.

Would the new video be better? Maybe.

But it wouldn’t be as authentic – and that’s something I value and want to share.

What I Learned

  1. Done is better than perfect and unfinished.

  2. We only learn by doing and putting ourselves out there.

  3. Vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness.

  4. A rock in the road is not a reason to give up.

  5. Even with mistakes and failures, what matters is to keep going and stay consistent.

  6. I loved making the video (this is crucial – loving what you do!).

✨ Final Thoughts

This video is not just a beginning – it’s also a promise and a commitment to myself to keep learning and creating.

If you’re thinking of starting a YouTube channel – or anything at all – share it with me in the comments, let’s grow together 🌱 This is your sign!

Remember: done is better than perfect.
