I Won’t Apologize for Feeling

Being sensitive is not the same as being weak — even though it often seems that way.
The world we live in keeps telling us not to feel, to be strong, not to be vulnerable.
I can’t do that. I’ve tried, and I’ve faced the consequences.
We are living beings with emotions and feelings — not robots or machines.
In this increasingly loud world, it's hard not to feel.
We’re expected to stay constantly connected, always online.
We witness what’s happening around the globe — disasters, death, and tragedy.
Social media doesn’t help...
The stimuli are too much.
The emotions are too much.
It feels almost impossible to take a break.
Right now, I can’t simply switch off my phone — I don’t have that luxury.
I might get a call from a recruiter, an important email, updates from university, or need to reply to group projects. I have to stay available.
But being sensitive should never be seen as a weakness.
I don’t feel weak.
I don’t feel weak when I feel empathy.
I don’t feel weak when I express my emotions and feelings.
I don’t feel weak, even if others want me to.
Going against the narrative of the world we live in makes me feel strong.
I want a different world, so I need to be different from the world.
I won’t hide how I feel.
I won’t hide what I think.I won’t hide my vulnerability.
It’s what makes us unique — and what truly connects us to each other, not the internet.
It’s easy to feel emotionally overwhelmed.
But that’s what boundaries are for.
Not taking everything to heart or absorbing everyone else’s emotions.
I need to say “no” without guilt.
I need to create moments of silence and peace.
I need to keep choosing people and places that feel good for me.
I’m done trying to change to please others.
Being ourselves is what empowers us, builds our confidence, and strengthens our self-worth.
We have to live truthfully.
The world becomes more colorful when we are all unique and unapologetically ourselves.
Don’t let the world dim your light just because it shines differently. Be your truest self — the world needs you exactly as you are.
